KIMÉ 2013: THE FIRST ALL BENGAL SHORINKAN KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP held on JUNE 30, 2013 (SUNDAY) at GITANJALI STADIUM, RASHBEHARI AVENUE CONNECTOR, KOLKATA.

Nearly 200 Karatekas and instructors from various styles attended, participated and competed in nearly 60 Kata and Kumite events for students aged 4 and above. Several eminent members of society, including the Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Shorin Kan Karate-Do and Kobudo Association India chief Renshi Suresh Kenichira (from Bangalore), educationists, and members of the Kolkata Police were present as guests.  

THE IDEA BEHIND  KIMÉ

• To get some of the best Karate talents in the state to compete.
• To establish that Karate is not only about fighting, it’s also about meditation, fitness, concentration and confidence.
• To create awareness about Karate and self-defence in general because crimes against women are on the rise.
• To inform that there is power in knowing how to defend oneself and one’s loved ones.
• To  popularize sports other than football and cricket.
• To prove that Karate is not just a sport, it’s an art, a way of life.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Kimé hopes to become a name to reckon with and aspires to grow into a brand. It aims to encourage the spirit of participation and competition; spread the right way of Karate among students, instructors, society, and administration; popularize the sport of Karate and create awareness about self-defence; build a positive approach among the parents and teachers towards Karate; facilitate idea exchange between different styles of Karate; create a talent pool; encourage students to take up Karate professionally; and let everyone know that it is a competitive and rewarding sport.
